FCA-DR Presentation on Mille Miglia
Saturday, August 21st - 9:00a - 11:00a
Gary Simon, Sales Manager at Scottsdale Ferrari, and Tim DeMore will give a talk about their experience participating in the 2010 Mille Miglia- a 1000 Kilometer rally through Italy. The original Miglia event was an endurance race from Brescia to Rome and back. The event ran from 1927 to 1957, but was canceled by the Italians when Alfonso de Portago, driving a Ferrari ,crashed and killed nine spectators.
The event was brought back in 1977 as a rally and is considered to be one of the premier rally events in the world. The event is only for cars built between 1927 and 1957 and people try for years to get accepted! However, this year Ferrari was allowed to add 130 cars to the event These additions were for cars built from 1958 to the present. Ferrari selected the cars from all over the world- some new, some vintage. There were only nine cars accepted from the U. S.
On display will be the actual car that did the rally, a 16M Scuderia Spider, along with pictures, the route book, etc.
